We Need Your Calls Today – We Need Your Help All Week

This isn’t just a big week for the ReWild Mission Bay campaign, it’s THE week, and we need your help on several fronts – now.

We need you at several key San Diego City Council meetings this week, including the council meeting ahead of the closed door session on Tuesday the 11th, and the Land Use and Housing Committee this Wednesday the 12th. Wear your ReWild shirt and get the full list of dates here.

Most important, our phone banking efforts continue today, Monday, June 10. We need you to make calls to Mayor Faulconer and all nine San Diego City Council members in support of the ReWild Mission Bay campaign and coalition. Call during business hours today, Monday, June 10.

Our asks are:

  • We believe the city of San Diego should give full consideration to the ReWild Mission Bay feasibility study so we have a public, transparent discussion on the options for Mission Bay revitalization.
  • In the closed door council session on Tuesday, please don’t sacrifice Mission Bay Park to settle existing litigation in exchange for a sweetheart deal for Campland to intensify land use at De Anza Point.
  • We’re confident the city can get the same results with a short-term or month-to-month lease for Campland, or any other vendor, while the public process continues.
  • Please don’t cut the public out of the process of determining the future of Mission Bay Park, and in doing so, set back wetland restoration opportunities in Mission Bay for decades.

Here are the numbers for the mayor and council members. It’s just 10 calls – that’s all we’re asking for:

And we need those calls today, not e-mails. Calls.

If the staff person or receptionist says the elected official is not available, they will likely offer to take a message, or they may offer to transfer you to one of the policy-related staffers in the office. Be polite and indicate you’re calling on behalf of the ReWild Mission Bay coalition.

When you’re finished, kindly thank the staff person for their time, let them know you’re counting on them to deliver the message, and be sure to wish them a good rest of their day.

Make your calls until the close of city business at 4 p.m.

If you’d like coaching or someone to walk you through the process, you’re welcome to make your calls today from the San Diego Audubon offices from 1 to 4 p.m., located at 4010 Morena Blvd., San Diego, CA 92117.
